This 7-day Bhutan journey offers a rich and immersive experience through the country’s most iconic destinations—Paro, Thimphu, and Punakha. The itinerary blends cultural exploration, scenic landscapes, and authentic local experiences, allowing travelers to discover Bhutan’s unique heritage, ancient monasteries, and peaceful Himalayan environment. From visiting majestic dzongs and museums in Thimphu to exploring the lush Punakha Valley and hiking to the legendary Tiger’s Nest Monastery in Paro, this journey provides a perfect balance of comfort, culture, and natural beauty.
  1. Warm welcome at Paro International Airport with traditional Bhutanese hospitality
  2. Explore Thimphu, the capital city, including Buddha Dordenma, Tashichho Dzong, and local markets
  3. Visit cultural landmarks such as the Royal Textile Museum and Folk Heritage Museum
  4. Scenic drive across Dochula Pass (3,100m) with panoramic Himalayan views
  5. Discover the beautiful Punakha Dzong, located at the confluence of two rivers
  6. Walk across Bhutan’s longest suspension bridge
  7. Experience rural Bhutanese life and village surroundings
  8. Visit Chimi Lhakhang (Fertility Temple)
  9. Optional activities: river rafting and nature walks
  10. Explore Paro Valley, including National Museum, Rinpung Dzong, and Kyichu Lhakhang

Arrival in Paro

Warm Welcome at Paro International Airport by Memoir Shangri-La Team and offers welcome tea & provide short briefing by the Proprietor or the guide. If no program in Paro, drive to Thimphu, the capital city, about 90 minutes. Evening stroll around Thimphu Town, including Craft Market & Farmers’ Centenary Vegetable Market. Overnight in Thimphu

  • Visit the world’s tallest Buddha Statue at Kuensel Phodrang, overlooking Thimphu Valley. Explore living museum “ Royal Textile Academy and Royal Textile Museum” in the heart of the city. Also experience the Bhutanese olden lifestyle at Folk Heritage Museum. Encounter with Bhutan’s National Animal the Takin in an open zoo. Visit Tashichho Dzong, the fortress & government seat and appreciate Bhutanese massive architectural structure. Overnight in Thimphu.

At Dochula Pass (3100m), enjoy the most panoramic view of snow-clad mountains. After arrival in Punakha, visit Punakha Dzong, the most beautiful fortress, once upon the capital of Bhutan. Then walk across the longest suspension bridge in Bhutan, built over the Mochu (Female) river. Guests can also walk into the village to experience Bhutanese rural life.

Next day, short hike to Chimi Lakhang, the Fertility Temple where couple can implore the deity for a child. Short drive and view Wangdue Phodrang Dzong (Fortress). Rafting along Phochu/Mochu River (optional). Overnight in Punakha.

Birding on the way (optional). After arrival in Paro, visit Ta Dzong, the National Museum, explore Paro Rimpung Dzong & traditional cantilever wooden bridge, visit Bhutan’s oldest 7th century temple, the Kyichu Lhakhang. Leisure evening in Paro town. Overnight in Paro.

Next day, pleasant hike to the most iconic monastery, Paro Taktshang – the Tiger’s Nest (approx. 7 hrs trip including visit inside). Evening, traditional Hot Stone Bath, a balm after a day’s memorable trek (optional). Overnight in Paro.

Last day, breakfast at hotel. Transfer to Paro International Airport for departure. Memorable Farewell by Memoir Shangri-La team.

1. Above itinerary is tentative and can be changed as per guest’s choice & suggestions.
2. Once places of interest are finalized, a detailed itinerary with description will be prepared with tentative timings.
3. Daily subsistence expenditures may range from US$ 170-200 per day per person, depending upon the season. It will include 3-star hotel room (double occupancy), breakfast and one meal, guide’s fee and transportation but excluding Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) of US$ 100/day/person, One-time Visa Fee US$ 40 per person, monumental entrance fees, cultural & entertaining shows, traditional Hot Stone Bath, surcharge of US$ 40 for single pack per day and US$ 30 per day for 2 pack, single room supplement of about US$ 40/room/night and air fares, both international and domestic.
4. Higher the number of packs, the lower will be the price.

6. Customized program like outdoor picnic, cultural shows, rafting, homestay can be arranged at the request of the guest but at additional charges.
